Track & Field 2025 Meet 2

This Saturday was the second meet for our T&F team. Here are the photos I took.

2025. 03. 16.

The Gear

It is hard to take sport photos without a fast camera. I've been using my old Canon EOS 600D for a while now, and learned its quirks and how to account for them. Yet nothing will beat actually having tools that work well. That's why for this day I was borrowing an EOS 80D, as its autofocus is much faster, even with my slow focusing 55-250 lens. I still used the 600D for a lot of stuff, so there's going to be shots from both cameras.

I split this page into different sections based on what event type was being photographed. You can click on the photos for more info on the event as well as who was being photographed. If you want higher resolution JPEGs of a photo, contact me on my Instagram.

Throwing

This time I hung around the throwing area a lot more. In the morning I did the boys discus, then came back later for boys shotput and girls discus. It was definitely a fun time, except when my friend almost KO'd me with his discus throw.

Timothy throwing discus
Alexander throwing discus
Haru throwing shotput
Harry throwing discus
Aubrey throwing discus
Koomin throwing discus
Grace throwing discus
Jacob throwing shotput

Jumping & Hurdles

I'm grouping these two together, because I almost didn't get any photos of either of them. I wanted to bring my camera with me during High Jump to photograph others during downtime, but someone else took it.

Ryan doing hurdles
Keado doing hurdles
Keado doing triple jump
Keado doing triple jump

Running

I wanted to get more variety with the normal running events than last time. I tried to change up the angles, the composition, and the editing. I feel like this experimentation made me take better shots, and it is definitely something I will be trying more of.

Lydia running 3200m
Brena running 100m
Koomin and Hayden running 4x100m
Jason starting 100m
Dylan and Zao An running 4x400m
Justin running SMR
Grant running 3200m
Kaiden running 4x400m
Olivia running 400m
Zao An and Max running 4x400m
Andy running SMR
Lydia running 4x400m

Miscellaneous / Fun

Holy, there were a lot of random shots taken that day. I am not taking credit for any of these shots, as they were all taken by random people and there is no way I can track the source of every single picture.

It all started when I gave my camera to a friend, they gave it to another friend, then another, until my cards were filled with random people taking group selfies. I guess next time I have to be more careful about who I give my stuff to.

I also took some portraits of people who asked, but I already sent those if I got them of you.

I'm fairly sure this was taken by Mr. Atkinson.

Keado Frederick and Maya Leishear photo

I didn't want this page to just be pictures of random people, so if you remember taking a shot of something, send me a message and I can find it.

Next meet though I will definitely have to stop people from using my stuff as it got very out of control.

This time I wanted to take as many shots as possible, so I would have more variety to choose from. I shared the 80D I borrowed from school with Keado Frederick, and my 600D got passed around by a lot of people. Overall from both cards I got around 1000 shots, maybe 300-400 of them being mine, with a hundred or so of them being usable, which is something I am proud of.

I wasn't too happy with how I did in my events, except for the SMR. We managed to outrun the A team, so I am pretty happy with that.
